Founder and Chief Instructor
Mr. Cliffe earned his Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Political Science from Acadia University, one of Canada's finest post secondary institutions. He then earned his Masters of Science in Education at Niagara University's renowned School of Education in New York. He employs that training and teaching experience in Alternative Education and High School settings along with his previous work experience to ensure that the curriculum developed is versed in strong, educationally proven learning strategies that guarantee his clients a successful, and therefore functional, learning experience. Training & Experience Having spent over two decades in various aspects of the personal protection and security field, Mr. Cliffe brings extensive field experience having worked in both small and large venue entertainment facilities, celebrity event protection, and corporate protection in the financial industry both in North America and abroad. He has trained security personnel, current and former military personnel, law enforcement officers, teachers, corporate executives, entertainment venue staff and has both designed and instructed courses for professional/collegiate women seeking to defend against on-campus and off-campus violence. Having been fortunate enough to have trained under a number of elite combative skills teachers, Mr. Cliffe has gained a strong and fully functional understanding of the skills required to successfully defend oneself in hostile environments and survive criminal attack. His skill sets have been thoroughly vetted in real world applications. Currently, Mr. Cliffe has been fortunate to have been accepted as an instructor under Sifu Paul Vunak, founder and designer of EXECUTIVE PFS. EXECUTIVE PFS is a division of Progressive Fighting Systems, a company with a long and significant history in the field of armed and unarmed combatives systems. As one of Mr. Vunak's Certified Executive Instructors, Mr. Cliffe is able to regularly train with Mr. Vunak, named by Black Belt Magazine as one of the most dangerous men in martial arts, and learn from one of the foremost authorities on defensive survival combatives. This ongoing relationship with an individual of Mr. Vunak's caliber, both personally and professionally, will continue to allow Mr. Cliffe to offer constantly updated and cutting edge instruction to his client base. Assistant Instructor Shannon Babbie, M.Sc.Ed, B.A., C.E.I.
After nearly ten years of teaching, the diversity and knowledge gained through these experiences helps to ensure students' successful comprehension of all aspects of the ITD Systems training curriculum. During the years he has studied under the Chief Instructor he has demonstrated an exceptionally strong conceptual knowledge with the physical prowess to engage it at the practical level with clarity. Recently, Mr. Babbie was fortunate to have also been accepted as an instructor under Sifu Paul Vunak, teaching the Progressive Fighting Systems Executive PFS program. Mr. Babbie began his studies of Jeet Kun Do in 1988. A perpetual student, he began learning Kali and Jun Fan Gung Fu / Jeet Kun Do Concepts in 1997. Mr. Babbie has earned the following credentials: Mr. Babbie is fortunate to have trained in: Mr. Babbie was also fortunate enough to have served as an active duty member of the United States Army's 29th Signal Battalion, where he worked with the Single Channel Ground and Airborne Radio System (SINC-GARS) as well as satellite communications systems, and as a radio-teletype operator. E-mail: s.babbie@itdsystems.com Associate Instructor Edward S. Wheeler Mr. Wheeler earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology. He is the Director of Manufacturing for a prominent electronics manufacturer in Central New York. Mr. Wheeler has experience with both Shaolin Kenpo and Shorin Ryu Karate. His studies under Sifu Cliffe have illustrated the needs for a fighting system that is instinctive and uses the understanding of body mechanics to deliver real world self defensive techniques. Sam Giambattista Mr. Giambattista earned his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology from SUNY Brockport and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA. He holds a brown belt in Danzan-Ryu jujitsu and he also has experience in Western Boxing training and competition. Professionally, he is the Fitness & Aquatics Director and a personal trainer at the Niagara Falls YMCA.
