TEACHSAFE™: Educator Emergency Violence Response
Training
Scheduling
Professional Development days just got easier.
TEACHSAFE™ specifically reduces legal liability by providing a
tactical training module which reduces the risk to staff and students
created by the lockdown/hide-in-place/wait-for-rescue (LD/HIP/WFR) if the
classroom integrity is breeched by an intruder. Engaging this
kind of training will show school commitment to the safety of staff and
students, gaining important parent support for a “safe-school” culture.
The TEACHSAFE™
course is timely training based upon Mr. Cliffe's experience in dealing
within the educational workplace, his past work in personal protection in North America and abroad, and the current trends we
see concerning criminal violence in schools including the new terror
manuals specifically targeting and instructing on how to attack
schools. As a permanently licensed NYS High School
educator, he is acutely aware of the challenges presented to educators who
wish to know how to protect themselves and their students against the
violence that targets institutions of learning. He has taken numerous
DHS/FEMA courses related to the National Incident Command System and
Emergency Planning Courses, including Incident Command for Schools and
Multi-Hazard Emergency Planning for Schools.
TEACHSAFE™ is specifically designed to enhance the current
LD/HIP/WFR protocol being used by the vast majority of school boards.
While staying out of sight provides initial concealment, it does not
address the threat it puts staff and students in once the gunman begins
entry into the classroom itself. At this point the LD/HIP/WFR functions
in the reverse of its intended role. It has gathered all the
potential victims in one spot and dramatically increases the ability of the
attacker to acquire and kill multiple victims quickly.
TEACHSAFE™ shows teachers how to maximize their protective
capacity and keep themselves and their students safe with the C.R.A.S.H.™
System, a physiologically-based hybrid combative system that functions
on hard-wired physiological and kinetically induced, reflexive responses
which make it impossible for the gunman to overcome the reaction-induction
process before he is rendered structurally non-functional and unable to
continue his attack. We give educators a sound and directly
applicable set of skills for imminent threat settings in close quarters to
deal decisively with armed intruders.
The initial parts of this
course cover potential threat identification and reactive skills for
preventing violence through situational awareness and proactive response
where necessary. The psychology of criminal attacks in the school
setting and trends as applies to school violence are examined. We
teach educators positioning of students to minimize risk and targeting,
quick access communication designation systems, and a simple 3 step
protocol to eliminate threats from any weapon or individual regardless
of size or training. Dealing with blunt force trauma weapons,
edged-weapons, and firearms is inherent in this system.
The course is taught in
the school in which people work so they can understand immediately how to
use their surroundings and the C.R.A.S.H.™ System to improve their
survivability and that of their students. We will integrate with
S.R.O.’s so they have a working knowledge of anticipated staff reaction and
how to effectively communicate during emergency clearing techniques
involving themselves and first-responders
From LtCol Dave Grossman
Steve,
I strongly support your initiative and endeavors
to teach educators, in a school setting, to protect themselves and others.
This is a critical aspect of our national endeavor to make our schools
safe. And you can quote me on that.
Keep up the good work!
